1/Lt. John W. Ross

"Here we see John in 1957 next to a F-86F Sabre jet. He wears a B-5 life vest, K-2B flight suit, backpack parachute, flight boots, G-3A g suit and holds a P-3/4 flight helmet and MS22001 oxygen mask. He wears a 336th squadron cap." - Heritage Flight Gear Displays

"My father completed his initial jet flight training at Bryan AFB in December 1954 followed by F-86 training at Nellis AFB which he completed in August 1955. His first squadron assignment was with the 12 Fighter Bomber Squadron at Kadena AB, Okinawa from Sept. 1955 to August 1956. After more research, I learned my initial Guess and assumption that the 12th FBS merged with the 336th Ftr. Day Sqd. was totally incorrect. All I know for sure from his official military record was that he assigned to the 336th Ftr Day Squadron from August 1956 to December 1957, at which time our family returned to the U.S. ,specifically Vance AFB in Enid Oklahoma, where I was born. After completing T-33 Instructor Course Training, he was a T-33 instructor Pilot." - John C Ross, son of John. Thanks John for the info.

Crew Chief Ron Bartlett
336th/4th

From crew chief Ron Bartlett:

"Sorry the markings are of the 4th FBS and show the Bunyap on the tail instead of the Rocketeers. The 336th became the 4th I believe in 1956. Same personnel though."

"My assigned pilot was Marvin Lindsey. From info on the Internet he went to Vietnam and was shot down while flying a recon mission in a F-102 and was M.I.A. for quite some time then I think his remains were found and sent to the states. Marvin was one heck of a nice gentleman. He had the F86 model made for me after I had returned to the states."

"The officers and enlisted men that I worked with in the 336th, were a fantastic group of people.
My years 1955 to 1958."
